The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended in 1989 and 1993) set the required levels of fire resistance for, among other things, upholstered furniture and furnishings. These regulations apply to the sale of contract mattresses and other furnishings to the 'contract' sector and our products fully comply with all aspects of the Regulations including the CRIB 5 - BS6807, Source 5 - BS7177, BS EN597-1 (Cigarette) and BS EN597-2 (Match) standards.
For information, the following items are included in these standards; any of the following which contain upholstery: beds, head-boards of beds, mattresses (of any size), sofa-beds, futons and other convertibles. The Regulations also apply to loose and stretch covers for furniture.
